WHY CHANGE THE NAME?
We are changing our name for 3 main reasons:
1. We used to be a part of Harvest Bible Fellowship where all churches were named: “Harvest Bible Chapel." Today - Harvest Bible Fellowship no longer exists. Now, we are a part of a new family of churches called “The Great Commission Collective." The GCC encourages all churches to choose the name they desire most.
2. Because of concerns with the leadership of a particular Harvest Bible Chapel - we no longer want to be associated with them by name. We are, and always have been an autonomous church led by our own local elder-board. Our name change will clear up any confusion for those wondering where we stand.
3. Since God is doing a wonderful, unique work in our church (radically restored lives, ethnic diversity, uncommon community) - we desire to choose a name that highlights this. Choosing our own name gives our church an opportunity to embrace God’s specific calling for us.

WHAT DOES OUR NEW NAME MEAN?
Our new name was chosen with intentionality and prayerful dependence on God. We wanted our new name to clarify our mission and identity:
// WE ARE ALL BROKEN PIECES
We have all been broken by our sinful desires and choices. Sin is what breaks us:
mentally, emotionally, relationally (with God and people) and physically.
// WE ARE CRAFTED TOGETHER BY A WISE CREATOR
Our creator came in Jesus to be broken on the cross for our sin to gather us
together (people of different colors, ethnicities, and cultures) into his church.
// WE ARE MADE INTO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
Through Christ’s death on the cross, we are redeemed from sin - for Jesus to
make something beautiful out of our lives.
// WE ARE MOSAIC COMMUNITY CHURCH
We were broken by sin - so, Jesus was broken for us. Through His sacrifice, we
are made beautiful. As a gospel-restored people of all colors, ethnicities, and
cultures, together we make up Mosaic Community Church.
FAQ
What was the process for deciding on a new name? This decision was made by the elders through seeking God’s direction in prayer and the wise counsel of others.
What if I don’t like the new name? No name is perfect, but we believe this is the name that God particularly led us to in order to advance His kingdom in Joliet and the surrounding communities. It is far easier to critique a name than it is to create a name. A name is important, but it is not ultimate. Remember, Jesus is the name above every name. If you would like further clarification, please feel free to reach out to one of our elders.
Are we still a part of the Great Commission Collective? Yes. The Great Commission Collective is an association of churches whose purpose is to plant, strengthen, and multiply great commission churches throughout the world. The Great Commission Collective is a non-profit organization with a governing board that is not tied to any one church. To learn more about the Great Commission Collective, visit gccollective.org.
Has anything else about our church changed with the new name? We are still the same church, just with a different name. Our mission, our pillars, and our vision for our church are all still the same. We will continue to preach the Bible unapologetically, worship unashamedly, pray unceasingly, witness unafraid, and gather in uncommon community.
